Carbon cases — 30 years on the case body

On carbon cases we provide a 30-year warranty from the date of delivery, and it covers the case body — the carbon structure, the assembly and the structural finish. It does not cover the Torah scroll itself, the parchment and script, the atzei chaim, the crown, rimonim, yad or any other accessory.

It covers defects in materials and workmanship originating with us, such as delamination not caused by misuse, bonding failure, or a defect in the opening hardware assembly.

Cover is valid only while the case has been stored and used in accordance with the conditions listed on this page. Departing from those conditions voids cover for that damage.

Gold plating and external finish — warranty by plating thickness in microns

The mantle or external decorative finish — including gold plating, metal cladding, paint or topcoat — is covered by a separate warranty, based on the plating thickness stated in writing in the item specification.

According to the gold-plating thickness recorded in the item warranty document:

Up to 0.25 micron (Flash / decorative): no warranty, or at most one year against clear peeling or flaking — as specified in the item document.

0.5–1.0 micron (Standard plating): up to five years against peeling, severe tarnishing or clear colour defect that is not caused by use or improper exposure.

2.5 microns and above (Heavy plating): 15–20 years, depending on the metal type, bonding layer and use conditions.

5 microns and above with a protective layer (PVD or dedicated protective coat): 20–30 years, in particular when PVD technology or an additional protective layer is used.

The plating warranty applies only to peeling, flaking or severe tarnishing that is not caused by abrasion, rubbing, contact with rough fabrics or leather, exposure to chemicals, solvents, alcohol, acids or sweat, or any other cause listed under "What is not covered".

Storage and use conditions required to keep the warranty

Kept indoors, in an ark or cabinet, in normal synagogue or home use — not outdoors, in an unconditioned store room, a basement or a car park.

Stable temperature of roughly 15 to 30 °C, without sudden swings between cold and heat.

Balanced relative humidity of roughly 35% to 60%. Never keep the case in a damp place, where water condenses, beside a dripping air-conditioner or near a liquid pipe.

No direct, prolonged sun exposure; not placed facing a stove, heater or air-conditioning outlet; no exposure to open flame or candles.

No exposure to liquids, oils, wine, solvent cleaners, alcohol, acetone, or car and furniture polishes.

Cleaning with a dry, soft microfibre cloth only, with gentle pressure. Do not use an abrasive sponge, a rough towel or a brush.

Lift, carry and open with both hands as the case is designed for; never drag it on the floor, lean on it or place weight on it.

For transport or shipping — hardened packaging with full padding, secured against movement, with no heavy items placed on the case.

Servicing, adjustment or repair of the opening hardware, hinges and locks is carried out by us or by a party we have authorised in writing only.

Do not drill, cut, glue, paint, engrave or add elements to the case after delivery without our written approval.

Wood cases — one-year warranty

On wood cases we provide a warranty of one year from delivery, on the case body only, subject to the same storage and use conditions listed on this page.

It covers defects in materials and workmanship, such as bonding or assembly failure, that do not stem from misuse or abnormal environmental conditions.

Wood is a natural material: changes of tone, developing patina and light traces of use are properties of the material, not defects.

What is not covered

Normal wear, surface scratches and traces of use; damage from a fall or impact; damage from moisture, flooding or extreme heat.

Damage caused by storage or use contrary to the conditions on this page, and damage from handling or repair by anyone not authorised by us.

Natural changes of tone and patina in wood, leather and metal; darkening or lightening of metal parts over time.

Items other than the case body: the Torah scroll and script, atzei chaim, crown, rimonim, yad, consumable interior padding and decorative accessories.

The mantle, plating or external finish — including gold plating, metal cladding, paint or topcoat — is not included in the 30-year body warranty unless it is explicitly covered by a separate warranty according to the plating-thickness table on this page and in the item's warranty document.

Damage to the plating caused by abrasion, rubbing against rough fabrics or leather, exposure to cleaning agents, solvents, alcohol, acids or sweat, or any other cause that is not a manufacturing defect of the plating itself.

Damage from an external event — fire, flood, break-in, theft, damage by an external carrier, or deliberate damage. These are handled through insurance, not the manufacturer's warranty.

How to file a warranty claim

Contact us through the contact page with the order or item number, a description of the fault, clear photographs of the affected area and of the whole case, and a description of storage and use conditions.

Transit damage must be reported within 48 hours of delivery with photographs of the packaging, as set out on the shipping and warranty page.

After assessment we will confirm whether the case is covered and repair or replace the affected part. There are no returns on bespoke items.

This policy does not derogate from rights that cannot be contracted out under applicable law.
